CCHL Recap | Bears and Grads Win Friday Night

Ottawa, ON – In the first night of the semi finals of the Bogart Cup, the Smiths Falls Bears won at home against the Cornwall Colts 2-1. The Navan Grads won on home ice against the Rockland Nationals 5-4.

Shaymus Stevenson struck first for Smiths Falls in the 1st period. Cornwall’s Bradley Fraser leveled the score in the 2nd period. However, Trevor Faucher’s goal in the 3rd period secured a 2-1 victory for Smiths Falls. Goaltender Donald Hickey put on a stellar performance for Cornwall, making 30 saves, while Dawson Labre stood strong for Smiths Falls with 20 saves.

F | Rockland 4 Navan 5

Shaan Kingwell and Danik Marion set the tone for Navan in the 1st period, with Kingwell netting two goals. Colin MacDougall and Cole Jenken extended Navan’s lead in the 2nd period. However, Rockland fought back fiercely in the 3rd period, with Jaden Davis, Kellen Dostaler scoring two goals, and Kyle Leonard adding one. Despite Rockland’s comeback efforts, Navan held on for the win. Goaltender Benoit Forget made 25 saves for Rockland, while Jaeden Nelson stood tall with 33 saves for Navan.
